I grew up in Southern California where I developed a lifelong appreciation for nature and beauty. Surfing, camping, fishing and spending time at Marineland of the Pacific where my dad was an animal trainer, these experiences, coupled with my deep Christian faith, opened my eyes in curious wonder. This passion and curiosity were reawakened when my career led me to travels across the United States as well as Europe and South Africa.
I have always been interested in art and from an early age developed a natural talent for drawing. In 2011 the artist within decided to pick up a paint brush to try my hand at painting. An adventure began which also included amateur photography.
My painting experience has been very rewarding for me as I like learning creative new methods and techniques. I have enjoyed success in acrylic and oil. I also dabble in acrylic pours and watercolor. My subject matter ranges from landscapes, nature scenes, streetscapes, portraits (both animal and human), still life, florals and abstract.
While primarily self-taught I wanted to perfect my skills and learn new techniques. My mentors include Mark Carder out of Austin, Tx to perfect my portraits and still life's, Tim Gagnon who is based in Maine perfecting atmospheric clouds and trees and Kenneth Schilling out of Mesa, AZ learning florals and abstracts or as he calls it "Abreal" techniques. Each mentor has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and grow as an artist.
I have sold several pieces over the years along with commissioned pieces. I look forward to the next chapter of creating quality custom art full time!
I live in the Phoenix area with my husband and two rescue pups who are frequent sources of inspiration for creative ideas and amusement.
I hope you enjoy visiting my Gallery and get Inspired!
I primarily use oil paints but will also use acrylic for pours and backgrounds when wanting to create the Abreal effect.
My experience of camping and fishing in the High Sierras left imprints in my mind for mountain landscapes. My love of animals, especially dogs and horses, inspire my pet portraits. The beauty around us is inspiring in itself. However, my true inspiration comes from above!
